Job Description

The department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at Virginia Tech is accepting applications for a one-year instructorship in Spanish with the possibility of renewal. 4-4 teaching load. Language and literature classes.

Required Qualifications

Previous experience teaching Spanish at the university level. Experience with teaching writing/composition through film and advanced grammar in Spanish. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. MA required in Spanish, Education, or a related field. Graduate-level coursework in Hispanic literature. Requires a criminal background check and may require occasional travel to attend professional conferences.

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in literary and cultural analysis. Research on 20th-century women writers in Spain.
The department is interested in candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment through teaching, research, and service.
