The Sequencing Specialist will have a primary responsibility of managing the Sanger Sequencing platform and QC Services to the Genomics Sequencing Center’s (GSC) customers. As a secondary responsibility, the specialist will help with Illumina Sequencing platforms when necessary. In addition, the specialist will be cross-trained to assist in other technologies which include, but are not limited to Laboratory Information Management System, high-throughput sample preparation, real-time PCR, next-generation sequencing and other molecular applications as needed to accomplish specific project goals.
B.S. in Biological Sciences or related field, or equivalent laboratory training or experience. Experience in molecular biology techniques; nucleic acid quantitative methods. Experience with sequencing data analysis software such as Sequencher and/or Sequence Scanner. Experience using basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite. The individual must be detail-oriented and able to keep concise laboratory records and documentation. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential. The applicant must be team-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced, high-throughput laboratory environment and possess excellent time management skills.
Experience with laboratory automation and robotics.
Experience in laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime
Starting at $54,000 depending on qualifications
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
