The Associate Director of Analytics / Football collaborates with the Assistant AD, Director of Operations for Football, Chief of Staff of Football, and the Head Football Coach with a primary emphasis on football analytics, research & game management strategy, and managing day-to-day operations. This individual will independently drive decision-making processes based on data & film analysis to support the Head Coach & Coordinators. The role balances high-level football insight with operational support, acting as a key advisor in football intelligence across practice planning, game preparation & in-game management.
This position is a core member of the football administrative team & will collaborate with coaches, student athletes, athletics department personnel, university officials & external partners. The position reports to the Assistant AD, Director of Operations and the Chief of Staff for Football. This position will also represent the football program within the Virginia Tech athletics department, within the Atlantic Coast Conference [ACC] & also within the National Collegiate Athletic Association [NCAA].
This role is responsible for adhering to all department & university policies & procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws & interpretations of the Atlantic Coast Conference [ACC] & National Collegiate Athletic Association [NCAA].
Bachelor's degree in a related field with relevant experience, or a Master's degree.
Demonstrated analytics, research &/or operations experience.
Working knowledge of football terminology, strategy & how college football practices function.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint & Visio. Formulas within the program [COUNTIF, SUMIF, VBA, MACROS, etc.] are important for football research projects & practice shell/script organization.
Experience with sports video analysis software, such as Catapult Thundercloud, PFF Ultimate, DVSport &/or Hudl, etc.
Experience with SportSource Analytics, Championship Analytics, PFF IQ, Stats Bomb, Zelus, Tracking Football, etc.
Experience with Teamworks or similar software.
Ability to critically assess objectives; design & present solutions to meet those objectives.
Excellent supervisory, communication, interpersonal & organizational skills necessary.
Ability to accomplish multiple tasks within demanding timeframes.
Attention to detail & the ability to work under pressure during game days.
Ability to use discretion & maintain all confidentiality.
Experience with APIs, FTPs & other forms of transferring data.
Operational knowledge of NCAA rules & regulations related to video operations.
Certification in video analysis software & equipment.
Experience in a NCAA Division I Power 4 collegiate athletics football program.
Experience as a NCAA Division I football player or coach.
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
Commensurate with experience.
40+. Nights and weekends as needed.
