Job Summary/Basic Function:

This position performs the majority of tasks analyzing and evaluating user software and system needs. Handles standard maintenance activities and trouble shoots common service requests related to academic testing in higher education. 

Department Overview:

The Academic Testing Center at Boise State University provides academic assessment administration and support for faculty and students in an in-person proctored computer lab setting and through remote testing technologies. This 100% in-person entry-level professional staff position will be responsible for maintaining and operating testing systems related to in-person and remote testing.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for communicating with faculty when scheduling tests, conducting instructor consultations using campus-supported tools related to academic testing, and providing guidance and leadership to student proctors and staff administering or reviewing tests. A mix of strong technology skills combined with professional communication and leadership qualities are preferred.

Level Scope:

Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgement and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.

Essential Functions:

60% of the time the Associate Coordinator - Testing Systems must:

  • Run and monitor daily processes; develop strategies and methods for automated system improvements. 
  • Identifies test case criteria; reviews, analyzes and documents test results and recommends changes to achieve desired results.  Review application systems modules and documentation to ensure applications are properly developed and implemented into production according with department standards and customer requirements.
  • Respond to end-user inquiries by providing support and assistance in the definition and resolution to problems.  Be able to communicate with staff and team members to include them in the solution. Monitors adherence to protocols and user manual instructions; train users when new features are added.
  • Create and design queries of data, collaborate with other team members and users to identify problem areas and be proactive in recommending solutions to problems. 

35% of the time the Associate Coordinator - Testing Systems

  • Addresses time-sensitive issues and operational challenges as they arise.
  • Independently manages unanticipated tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Provides flexible support across functional areas based on workload demands and priorities.
  • Exercises sound judgment in handling non-routine matters.

5% of the time the Associate Coordinator - Testing Systems

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to adapt to changing workplace technology.
  • Highly organized, able to work effectively across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience providing user level support for an automated processing system and web-based applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent progressively responsible professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in higher education testing center operations.
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems, particularly Canvas.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and supervising student employees.
  • Experience administering exams using remote and in-person proctoring platforms.

Salary and Benefits:
