| Job Summary/Basic Function: |
This position will be responsible for administering the Department of Public Safety’s Security and Event Management program to include managing the campus security, event security, event parking, and parking enforcement operations. Work with other departments and venues on campus to minimize event impacts on the University, manage event traffic and parking, ensuring appropriate security staffing and planning for events while always focusing on a positive guest experience. This position will be critical in managing the Game Day Security program, to include metal detection and efficiently moving over 35,000 football ticket holders into and out of the stadium for each home football game. These responsibilities have been identified as high priority programs with the safety, security, and reputation of the University at stake.

Campus Security Authority: This position is identified as a “Campus Security Authority (CSA)” per the federal law known as the Clery Act. Per this law, the employee is required to report any crimes that he/she becomes aware of to the Clery Compliance Officer. Additionally, CSAs are required to complete annual training prescribed by the Clery Compliance Officer.

| Level Scope: |
Manages a large team typically consisting of both experienced professionals and subordinate Managers. Focuses on tactical and operational plans with short to mid term focus; significant responsibility to achieve broadly stated goals through subordinate Managers. Determines objectives, directs programs, develops strategies and policies, manages human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with a high degree of autonomy. Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead a project or program teams in one dept/job family. Proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets. Determines campus strategies for a program with campus wide impact.

| Essential Functions: |
● Provides leadership and management of the Security and Event Operations under the supervision and coordination of his/her chain of command. ● Assume the responsibilities of the Director – Security, Police, and Event Operations in his/her absence. ● Manage the University’s event security logistical operations, including Game Day Security and other athletic events, Commencement, Homecoming, Bronco Day, other large campus events and concerts, sensitive or controversial events, and other events on campus as needed. Logistics include event security, signage, credentialing, etc. Provide outstanding customer service during campus events. ● Develop plans and approaches to the various events hosted on campus, utilizing a multi-disciplinary strategy that brings together public safety, student affairs, faculty, facilities, general counsel, residential life, student center, student government, risk management, event parking, and local police, fire, and EMS officials, to collaborate on developing policies, procedures, and systems to ensure the safety of events. ● Provide operational oversight over the contracted 3rd party security company personnel assigned to work events and requested campus security missions. ● Supervise the Public Safety Security managers, as well as oversee the management of the security officers and contracted event security staff. ● Supervise the physical movement and placement of security-specific equipment and items required to accomplish identified security and safety goals. ● Oversee event security staff training in relevant policies and procedures, how to manage and control crowds, orderly evacuation planning, and basic first aid and safety planning. ● Oversee the local, state, and Federal law enforcement program supporting event security. ● Work closely with the Public Safety Security Analyst in developing pre-event threat assessments to determine appropriate levels of security for the event. ● Manage the Federal Partner Program for football and major stadium events. ● Work closely with the Department of Public Safety Emergency Management Department to prepare for and mitigate crisis-level incidents on campus. ● Actively renews job knowledge by reading professional journals, participating in education opportunities, and belonging to professional organizations. ● Plan and coordinate a variety of special administrative projects and assignments. ● Engage in Departmental problem-solving for organizational issues; make recommendations for Department efficiencies and advancement. ● Ensure compliance with scheduling and related policies and guidelines. ● Be responsible for the construction, selection, and management of various private security contracts for the University. ● Work with the Director on strategic planning and policy development for the Event Operations section of the Department of Public Safety. ● Develop appropriate policies and guidance for off-campus events that are hosted by the University to maintain the same relative control of the event. ● Develop event action plans or incident action plans for most major events. ● Conduct after-action reviews for most major events. Questions that will be asked by this position should focus on what could be done differently next time, what would make the management of the event more efficient, and what lessons were learned. Focusing on the “next time” is important to gather information needed to ensure the continuing success of event management. ● May perform other duties as needed.

| Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: |
● Experience with event and/or game day management. ● Experience as an instructor or trainer. ● Excellent customer service skills. ● Demonstrate creativity, initiative, and proactive problem-solving skills. ● Strong organizational and time management skills. ● Knowledge of law enforcement and public safety strategies. ● Skilled in supervision and management of others. ● Knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the Incident Command System (ICS), as well as the Clery Act and Title IX responsibilities. ● Ability to work with a variety of people (both internal and external to the University) and demonstrate ability to work with and serve various workforce and customer base. ● Strong communication skills.

| Minimum Qualifications: |
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, plus 7 years of experience including 3 years of management experience.
A valid Driver's License
|
| Preferred Qualifications: |
● At least 3 years of previous experience with event and/or game day management. ● At least 1 year of experience in security or law enforcement. ● At least 1 year of supervisory experience, including training/evaluating/mentoring staff. ● At least 1 year of experience in a Higher Education setting.

| Salary and Benefits: |
