About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking a customer-focused Administration Officer to join our Administration Reception team in a full-time, permanent position.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a busy hospital environment, ensuring patients, visitors and clinical teams receive exceptional administrative support. As the first point of contact for many patients, you'll help create a welcoming experience while contributing to the efficient delivery of high-quality healthcare services. The role is responsible for supporting the daily administrative requirements of the department, with a strong focus on operational efficiency and exceptional service.

Salary range: $32.02 - $37.35 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

You'll provide high-quality administrative and reception support that helps ensure the smooth operation of the department and enhances the patient experience. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Welcome and assist patients, visitors and staff with professional, friendly customer service.
  • Manage patient appointments, registrations and administrative enquiries.
  • Perform general reception, filing, record management and data entry activities.
  • Prepare, scan and maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing correspondence and mail.
  • Support departmental rostering and other administrative processes as required.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and participate in training and development opportunities.
  • Maintain compliance with Mater policies, procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.

About you

You're an organised and proactive administration professional who enjoys delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment and thrives as part of a collaborative team. You will bring:

  • Previous experience in an administrative, reception or customer service role, ideally within healthcare.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new hospital information systems.
  • A patient-centred approach with a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional service.
  • Ability to remain calm, positive and adaptable in a changing environment.
