The asynchronous, online course is designed to help students understand the cognitive, social, and emotional needs of gifted youth in prekindergarten through second grade (ages 3-8). The instructor will be responsible for the facilitation and assessment of all related course work.

The instructor will be responsible for teaching one of one sections of a three-credit undergraduate/graduate course titled EDUC 195/295: Curriculum and Assessment of Gifted (the sections of these courses are cross-listed for both undergraduate and graduate students). This asynchronous, online course is designed to help students develop educational programs and services for gifted learners in the PK-12 educational setting. Students will explore NAGC program standards, best practices for teaching gifted students and assessing their learning, programming models/options (e.g., acceleration, differentiation etc.), and common instructional/assessment strategies. The instructor will be responsible for the facilitation and assessment of all related course work.

Students will study gifted education policy and practice, state legislation related to gifted education, funding/budgeting practices, staff development, and program evaluation.
