Job Summary/Basic Function:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Acquisitions: Manages all aspects of acquisitions and serials. Maintains serials collection, places orders for materials, maintains government documents collection and tracks expenditures for library. Updates data records in library catalog and vendor databases. Reconciles library P-Card; Payment of invoices and creates reports and works with Director on budget preparation and tracking.
2) Cataloging: Manages all aspects of cataloging services. Creates, adds, edits and deletes catalog records in the integrated library system database. Performs copy cataloging duties. Updates OCLC holdings. Maintains cataloging database based on library practices for projects.
3) Circulation: Assist Circulation Manager with all aspects of circulation and inter-library loan services. Maintains, adds and edits patron records. Troubleshoots issues with equipment housed in or checked out by the library including laptops, tablets, etc.
4) Patron/Customer Services: Provides positive public face for the Library and Academic Services to all patrons. Troubleshoots and resolves problems while recognizing when it is appropriate to pass them on to their supervisor or others. This staff member may be the first point of contact when problems occur, such as: resolving issues of interpretation of library policies, discrepancies in library user records, missing materials, and responding to patron concerns, etc.
5) Works with students to accomplish project goals in a timely manner. Trains and guides students on the use of Library, Academic Services and campus technology projects.
6) Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Graduate or equivalent
One or more continuous years of experience handling money and knowledge of basic accounting principles
Possess and demonstrate excellent professional and customer service skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
Demonstrated ability to learn and implement new technologies
Demonstrated proficiency working with Microsoft Office
Ability and eagerness to work in an evolving and demanding work environment
Demonstrated attention to detail
Experience with tactful resolution of difficult situations
Possess strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate Degree or higher
6 months or more experience working with an Integrated Library System (ILS)
6 months or more experience working in a library
Ability and eagerness to work in an evolving and demanding work environment
Demonstrated experience with OCLC Interlibrary loan
Physical Demands:
Adequate physical fitness to be able to sit and concentrate for long periods of time; use of fine motor skills to operate computers; problem solving ability; use of gross motor skills to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally; ability to understand and work with numbers; ability to see, hear, and speak with or without the use of aids to perform normal office tasks. Ability to multi-task. Must have the ability to work well on his/her own; ability to be trustworthy and maintain confidentiality; ability to read and follow written and oral directions, and to plan and work well independently or in groups.
