PEAK - Operating Engineer / Mechanic in Oklahoma City
Join the University of Oklahoma as a Operating Engineer/Mechanic and help support the safe and reliable operation of the campus steam and chilled water utility systems. Under direct supervision, this position assists with maintenance and repairs of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, distribution systems, and related plant equipment while helping monitor operations, maintain records, perform water testing, mix treatment chemicals, and identify potential equipment issues. The role also supports routine plant maintenance, cleaning, minor repairs, and may assist with snow and ice removal and other site support activities. Qualified candidates will possess a high school diploma or GED, at least six months of steam and chilled water plant operations experience, a State of Oklahoma High Pressure Boiler License, and a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Successful candidates will demonstrate a basic understanding of utility plant equipment, safety procedures, maintenance tools, and simple schematics, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a physically demanding power plant environment exposed to heat, cold, noise, steam, electricity, and industrial hazards.

Join the University of Oklahoma as a Utility Maintenance Mechanic and play a vital role in keeping critical power plant equipment and utility systems operating safely and efficiently. In this hands-on position, you will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on chillers, cooling towers, transformers, pumps, valves, electrical panels, piping systems, compressors, and other large-scale mechanical and electrical equipment. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of experience repairing electrical instrumentation and large equipment such as boilers, generators, diesel engines, or chillers, and the ability to read schematics, troubleshoot AC/DC and high-voltage systems, and use hand and power tools. This non-exempt position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic industrial environment while contributing to the reliable operation of essential campus utilities. A valid driver's license, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, is required.
