At LCRA, we are seeking to find a leader to supervise, coordinate and direct overall activities of staff responsible for plant operations at a gas & combined cycle power plant! This includes the fossil control room operators, plant operators and other shift personnel essential to power plant operations. This position will coordinate work activities with other power plant departments and serves as the primary contact with the LCRA Generation Desk (GenDesk) regarding all unit generation capabilities and outages, and also with TS System Operations and Control Center (SOCC) regarding transmission switching needs. You will be trusted to:
- Provide leadership and direction to staff. In addition to hiring, training, assigning work, evaluate and manage performance. - Coordinate and direct activities to maximize the daily operational efficiency of the power plant, including unit start-ups and shut-downs. Provides technical oversight and resolution of issues for plant operations - Coordinate work activities with other power plant departments and serves as the primary contact with the LCRA GenDesk regarding all unit generation capabilities and outages, and also with the SOCC regarding transmission switching needs. Ensures that management is informed on critical matters affecting power plant operations. - Implement and maintain policies, programs and procedures related to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the power plant. Ensures safety and environmental policies, programs and procedures are implemented and followed. Assists in developing and maintaining policies and procedures for the facility. - Prepare and deliver various reports to management and staff, within the department, facility, and organization. Ensures appropriate records are maintained within the department. - Provide oversight and input to plant operations training, including development, design and delivery of operations training for the generating units in areas such as technical skills, system operations, water treatment and coal yard operations. Ensures the effective, efficient delivery of operations training including documentation process and procedures

You qualify with:
Nine or more years of experience in power plant operations, maintenance, engineering, or other relevant experience. A degree(s) in power generation, engineering, business, science, math or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.

- Knowledge of applicable laws, principles, standards, codes, and documentation specific to assigned power plant operations and maintenance - Knowledge of ERCOT and NERC policies and procedures - Knowledge of emergency preparedness and response plans - Skill in communicating effectively with team members, supervision/management and external organizations under normal and emergency conditions - Experience with office productivity applications (such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) - Experience with the STS "Red Tag" program - Ability to balance and manage competing high priority work demands
