Academic advising is a collaborative relationship that empowers the student to realize the full undergraduate experience at Middle Tennessee State University. Academic advisors provide academic assistance and individualized attention to promote each student's success at Middle Tennessee State University by sharing knowledge, experience, and insight that is beneficial to the student. The advisor's role is to help the student evaluate and realize educational and career options. This requires the advisor to: • approve the student's academic program of study • provide accurate and consistent information • clarify program requirements, policies and procedures • assist the student in identifying appropriate institutional resources • facilitate relationships between the student and other individuals on campus who may provide assistance • uphold the academic standards of the institution This position reports to the Academic Advising Manager for the college or another appropriate administrator. This is a professional, non-instructional advising position supporting an academic department, college, and office of student success. This position requires considerable contact with students and therefore requires extensive communication skills. Academic Advisors are expected to possess extensive knowledge about academic programs, policies, procedures, and student support services within the scope of their responsibilities. They must be able to interpret student needs and provide individualized service and assistance while maintaining confidentiality. The Advisor must maintain accurate and confidential records using internal student tracking software to support the retention strategies and evaluate student progress. Academic Advisors will participate in orientation sessions and recruiting events, some of which will involve occasional evenings, overnight trips, and weekend hours. Office Coordinator - Athletics Murfreesboro, Tennessee
erform a variety of administrative tasks and functions pertaining to daily office operations of the Blue Raider Athletic Association (BRAA). The Associate Athletic Trainer will report to the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine. The position will supervise and coordinate athletic training services for student-athletes in intercollegiate athletic programs – primarily men’s basketball. Police Sergeant Murfreesboro, Tennessee
MTSU Police is seeking a Police Sergeant to serve within the Patrol Division. The Patrol Sergeant serves as the shift supervisor for the patrol shift. The Patrol Sergeant ensures the professional and timely delivery of services to the university community. As a leader within the department the sergeant is expected to instill morality, integrity, and excellence in their subordinate officers. Provide sound advice and knowledgeable insights as they coach, and mentor police officers assigned to their patrol shift. As an essential part of the university’s safety efforts, the Patrol Sergeant will respond to emergencies, coordinating and leading the police response in accordance to established plans and guidelines. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the patrol sergeant fulfills the role of a police officer tasked with the service and protection of the MTSU community. As a full-service police department, University Police operates 24-hours a day, 365 days a year to provide service to the university, its students, employees, and visitors. Patrol Sergeants, as first line supervisors, may be assigned to work days, evenings or overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
