What you’ll be doing in this role

Reporting to our passionate Health Services Information Manager, the primary responsibility of Clinical Coding Manager will be to lead the clinical coding function to ensure both accurate and timely data to fulfil business and legislative requirements.


Working within HIS, your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Being a senior leader with up to 10 direct reports, plus a pool of contractors
  • Driving and leading regular clinical coding audits and quality improvement activities
  • Liaising with both internal key service Executives and external stakeholders
  • Responding to internal and external departmental requests for information as required

Who we’re looking for

  • 5+ years experience in clinical coding at a large (tertiary) hospital
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving and supporting a clinical coding team
  • Strong knowledge and skills in using the ICD-10-AM classification system, DRG assignment / casemix and Australian Coding Standards (ACS)
  • Previous training in ICD 10-AM 12th Edition is essential
  • Previous or current experience using 3M Codefinder
  • Excellent communication (written / verbal) and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience of same through considerate and professional liaisons with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of private sector funding models will be highly regarded, but not essential
