Job Summary:

The Drake University Leadership & Counseling Department invites applications for an adjunct instructor position. This position will be responsible for teaching a three-credit graduate section of COUN 286 College and Career Readiness. This is School Counseling specific course where students learn career exploration/development, college access, college knowledge information and postsecondary preparation. The successful candidate will teach a full section of the course during the fall 2026 term. The instructor is responsible for developing the course content and teach the course in the Fall as an in-person course. The instructor is responsible for delivering course content, facilitating activities, and grading assignments. This course is required of all students specializing in School Counseling.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of a master’s degree in school counseling and school counseling experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five or more years experience as a school counselor.

Job Duties:

• 60% - Deliver content related to School Counseling Programming
• 15% - Monitor and document individual student progress
• 10% - Facilitate discussion of relevant issues
• 5% - Adjust the pre-developed curriculum and textbook / article choices as needed
• 5% - Provide final grades for students according to the university calendar
• 5% - Create new course content and readings as needed
