Department Summary
At the College of Merchandising, Hospitality & Tourism (CMHT), we are the innovators, dreamers, and go-getters of the future. Having seen many changes over the course of nearly 110 years of existence, CMHT’s degree programs and extracurricular activities reflect a long history of creative thinking and globally oriented problem solving.
Our seasoned, industry-savvy faculty and staff work to provide the most unique, rewarding student experience through hands-on, intensive courses in the Consumer Experience, Digital Retailing, Hospitality, Fashion, Merchandising and Tourism fields, as well as extracurricular clubs and career expos. We are home to the first ever, ACPHA-accredited Hospitality program, the first Digital Retailing B.S., and the nation’s largest Merchandising program in the nation.

Position Overview
The person in this position is responsible for performing public relations functions as well as delivering great customer service. The customers in this unit are the College of Merchandising and Hospitality Management Dean, Associate Dean, staff, Chairs, faculty, students, and external constituencies including internal and external guests that enter the CMHT Deans office suite.
It is necessary for the person in this position to be flexible in multitasking and changing from one task to another quickly. Interruptions of scheduled work may occur; thus, flexibility is necessary to accomplish the work in a timely manner. The person in this position must be able to organize work based on priorities established by the Dean and Associate Dean.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and three years' of moderately responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced customer service skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
- Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
- Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.
- Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.
- Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.

Job Duties:
- Prepares CMHT conference room for scheduled meetings and ensures coffee service as appropriate, especially with CMHT guests. Schedules conference rooms on electronic calendars.
- Develops and implements plan for maintaining and destroying state files in work area.
- Assist faculty with course and lab related purchases that are charged to course fees. This includes, but is not limited to, supplies, subscriptions, and course specific software.
- Coordinate all textbook orders with the campus bookstore and request desk copies for faculty to consider for classes.
- Assist with Asset Management.
- Creates and maintains the dashboard for CMHT in Insights.
- Assists with all phases of the CMHT scholarship process from coordinating applications, communicating with applicants, coordinating dissemination of award letters, completing paperwork with the Financial Aid office, coordinating appeals, printing certificates, helping with the awards ceremony, etc. Prepares and mails Deans list certificates.
- Distribute US/Campus mail in faculty and staff mailboxes.
- Responsible for keeping the Deans suite organized and stocking the office supply closet.
- Assists Deans office with posting and processing of ePars for hourly student assistants.
- Prepare and publish faculty schedule with office hours and phone list for each semester.
- Monitor main office copy machine maintenance, and coordinates repairs.
- Creation of college newsletters and flyers.
