The Collections Management Specialist, Western History Collections, is a 2-year term position that will perform collection rehousing, collection description, inventorying, and data entry tasks to improve the storage and management of distinctive archival collections of enduring research value housed in the University Libraries, Western History Collections. The work will aid major preservation and collection relocation initiatives to support the long-term stability of archival materials in the libraries. The Collections Management Specialist will closely follow established descriptive standards and workflows to create and enter data about collections into spreadsheets and web-based collection management databases. The position will physically rebox and move collections within individual library facilities to support the improved storage of archival assets. The Western History Collections is a collecting area within the University Libraries, Special Research Collections that preserves and provides access to distinctive primary source resources documenting the history of the American West. This is NOT a money solicitation or fundraising call center. The phone calls these current students make are a vital part of OU’s recruitment efforts (and a very fun supervisory role for the GA!). The Comm Center is typically open after hours, so OU students can call high school students in the afternoon and evening.
