The Principal, Employee Relations (Portfolio) role is designed to deliver and maintain effective and compliant employee relations frameworks and processes.
In this role, you will provide legal and strategic advice on Suncorp’s employee relations portfolio, ensuring ongoing compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
You will also monitor external industrial relations developments to identify potential impacts for Suncorp and lead compliance and governance activities for the portfolio.
What you’ll do
- Develop, maintain and monitor ongoing effectiveness of the ER portfolio strategic approach, including design and delivery of policy, processes and supporting initiatives.
- Monitor external trends, legislative and regulatory changes, and industry insights to identify any potential impacts on Suncorp’s employment frameworks, policies and procedures.
- Prepare board papers and present strategic ER & IR insights to internal business forums and Functional leadership teams.
- Partner with the Entitlements Assurance team to develop and maintain governance over Suncorp’s Enterprise Agreement and other legislative obligations.
- Deliver and lead portfolio owned compliance and governance activities to mitigate key risks and improve the Suncorp employee experience (e.g. contract and policy reviews, control testing and audits).
- Act as a point of technical escalation for employee relations matters and provide commercially balanced advice.
- Operate within relevant approved Risk Appetite Statement/s and effectively monitor and manage risk to Suncorp.
Job Requirements
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and expertise in employment law and industrial relations matters (minimum 8 years’ experience)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to present at a senior level.
- Ability to influence, engage and manage conflict at all stakeholder levels.
- Tertiary qualifications in Law and current practising certificate
