Marketing Manager (Terri Scheer & Apia)

About the role:

This role is responsible for the management and execution of a consistent brand platform across the Terri Scheer and Apia brands, that realises Insurance Business P&L objectives through the effective orchestration of marketing activity (includes retention) across paid, owned and earned channels, with a strong focus on digital, contact centre and claims performance. At times, this may include media extensions and collaboration on broadcast activations aligned to brand sponsorships and seasonal campaigns.

This includes supporting peers across the portfolio of Brands, Content, Media, Digital, 1:1 and Sponsorships to align marketing communications strategies across the sales and service funnel with a strong lens for creative effectiveness, competitive differentiation, new growth segments, customer experience and media ROI. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • In conjunction with the Head of Brand & Content (HO B&C), direct Terris Scheer and Apia’s brand strategy within the context of the broader Insurance Brand Portfolio, to build brand equity, retention, salience and meaning.
  • Implement marketing programs to drive revenue growth, brand equity, retention and ROI.
  • Leverage executional teams across Content, Media, Digital, 1:1 and Sponsorships to orchestrate consistent execution of the brand strategy across the end-to-end value chain, with input from to support the overarching Insurance business strategies and operating environment.
  • In conjunction with the HO B&C, work collaboratively with Business Portfolio, Finance and Customer & Digital teams to forecast appropriate revenue, unit sales and retention targets across Suncorp and ensure annual marketing plans are geared accordingly.
  • Manage the brand’s communication and messaging framework, including end-to-end campaign oversight and approvals (both creative and media). Ensure peer-teams have a clear understanding to support that direction, avoiding overlap or duplication by market where important.
  • Alongside the HO B&C, evolve the brand’s strategy and highlight areas of opportunity for future growth, including relevant brand extensions to new products, segments, markets or affinity partnerships.
  • Proactively create a differentiated brand narrative with agency partners that attracts new customers while deepening existing relationships to , increase acquisition, drive retention, brand loyalty and improve long-term market share.
  • Key contact - D2D agency relationship management, including prioritisation of work within retainer partnering with the Marketing Planning and Operations team.
  • Champion our brands internally making sure there’s universal understanding of Terri Scheer and Apia, its positioning, intent and role within the portfolio
  • Leverage internal and external research, competitive and industry intelligence to inform strategy, execution and overall brand passion for customers.
  • Centralise a view of budget across the brand and portfolio deliverables to forecast accurately monthly and manage programs of work across the full FY within budget

About You:

  • Degree in Marketing or equivalent.
  • 8+ years’ experience in Marketing, preferably within financial services.
  • Dealing with senior executives and managing relationships.
  • Proven experience managing and delivering marketing strategy and tactics across all media channels.
  • Proven record of achievement within a complex business environment.
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders across a wide variety of workstreams simultaneously.
  • Ability to form and lead virtual teams, as well as building knowledge and capability in others.
  • Excellent presentation skills

Key Capabilities:

  • Strong knowledge of brand strategy/positioning, strategic marketing principles, marketing communications strategies and experience, including a competency in data driven marketing.
  • Strong strategic and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement realistic plans for complex system and / or process change.
  • Exceptional ability to build strong relationships, align diverse stakeholders around common goals and successfully motivate people toward shared outcomes.
  • Strong financial acumen, commerciality and ability to unlock P&L value via brand, marketing and communications strategies and tactics.
