About the Role

Reporting to the Manager of Delivery, this is a pivotal role within the Service Delivery Portfolio. As the Program Lead Delivery you will be responsible for: ensuring the delivery and facilitation of efficient and effective maintenance (and where applicable, minor capital programs) through front line operational leadership.

  • Leading and managing the delivery of the Fire, Civil and Natural Resource Management program in Melbourne Waters Catchments in the East (Thomson & Tarago) and monitoring and adjusting and improving the process for maximum efficiency and value to the business. 
  • Ensuring programs are delivered within budget and have been negotiated and agreed with customers.  
  • Ensuring the safety and general wellbeing of self, staff, colleagues and engaged service providers through active and effective safety leadership, building a culture of zero arm, hazard identification and reduction, and continuous improvement.  
  • Managing the recruitment and supervising project fire fighters during the fire season.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence as this role requires occasional travel.
  • Help to foster a culture of Health, Safety & Wellbeing.
  • A firefighter task-based assessment will be required for this role as well as a fit for emergency medical.

About you:

  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to supervise teams delivering Fire, Civil and Natural Resource Management maintenance program as well as First Response Fire. 
  • Demonstrated judgment, problem solving and ability to develop innovative solutions to operational and works delivery problems. 
  • Experience in leading, supporting and enabling teams with a diverse, high performing and inclusive culture. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. 
  • Strong risk identification, assessment and control capabilities. 
  • Must reside permanently within 45 mins driving time of Work Centre – Thomson. 
  • Be available for out of hours availability (24 hour a day recall to work) and out of hours emergency response (when rostered).
  • Be available to go on a fire roster during the fire season.
  • Annual Leave over the Summer fire period will be restricted.

This role is primarily based from Thomson Dam, Thomson.  You will be required to travel to sites East of Greater Melbourne. You will be allocated an operational work vehicle.

The Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Act 2018 requires Melbourne Water, as an operator of critical infrastructure, to prepare a Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program (CIRMP), which has been undertaken and managed by the Security and Emergency Management Team.

Melbourne Water are required to assess roles across Melbourne Water to determine what roles are critical under the Act. All employees working in a role deemed SOCI critical will require additional background checks via AusCheck.  These role is deemed critical and the preferred applicant will be asked to undertake an AusCheck.
