What does the job look like?

You are a seasoned distribution centre leader with a strong track record of leading large, complex and highly automated operations. You bring a people‑first leadership style, are commercially astute, and have successfully led senior leadership teams through transformation, growth and automation‑driven change.

You are comfortable operating at pace, managing scale and complexity, and balancing operational excellence with strong financial discipline and customer outcomes. You are recognised for building capable leadership teams, fostering engagement in unionised environments, and embedding a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement. You can demonstrate:

  • Extensive senior leadership experience managing large, multi‑layered workforces within complex distribution centre operations, ideally in highly automated or technologically advanced environments.
  • Proven experience leading operations through automation implementation, optimisation or transition, including working closely with automation engineers, technical teams and system vendors.
  • Strong commercial capability with end‑to‑end P&L responsibility, including revenue accountability, budget ownership and delivery of cost and productivity initiatives at scale.
  • A history of delivering high‑volume third‑party logistics (3PL) services, balancing contractual requirements, customer expectations and operational performance.
  • Experience leading and developing senior leaders and leadership teams, with a focus on succession planning, capability uplift and long‑term workforce sustainability.
  • Deep understanding of WMS, automated warehouse systems and paperless operations, and the ability to leverage technology to improve safety, efficiency and service outcomes.
  • Sound knowledge of workplace legislation, safety, industrial relations and unionised environments, with credibility engaging employees, unions, customers and contractors during change.
  • A calm, confident leadership presence with the ability to act as a trusted point of contact for customers and key internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience leading complex change initiatives, managing cross‑functional programs, and coordinating multiple workstreams to deliver sustainable organisational outcomes.

You are an experienced logistics leader with a background managing large, complex distribution centre operations, ideally within a highly automated environment. You are commercially astute, customer‑focused and confident leading teams through operational and transformational change. You can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience delivering third-party logistics services within a warehouse environment.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale operations with significant workforce size and volume.
  • Strong P&L and financial management experience, including revenue and budget oversight.
  • Experience working with WMS and exposure to automated or paperless warehouse systems.
  • Direct leadership experience managing senior leaders, supervisors and large teams.
  • Sound understanding of workplace legislation, safety, industrial relations and unionised environments.
