The Investments & Treasury Division is responsible for managing the University’s cash and liquidity, including short and long-term investments, foreign currency, debt portfolio, management of the credit rating (currently Aa1 with Moody’s), capital allocation strategies and capital raising with a focus on the University’s ongoing financial performance and ability to optimise the use of capital to invest in campus infrastructure and assets.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Deputy Treasurer to support the Director of Investments and Treasurer by overseeing the development, implementation, and management of the University’s Treasury function. This key leadership role ensures the effective stewardship and support of the University’s financial resources, including liquidity management, long-term investments, debt portfolio, and financial risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Treasury function, ensuring performance aligns with university policies and strategic priorities
- Oversee the transformation and modernisation of the Treasury function, including implementation of new treasury systems, integration of treasury systems into the ERP and other process improvements
- Support the Treasurer with management of the debt portfolio, including long term debt strategy, investor updates and debt refinancing.
- Maximise investment returns and manage risks in the University's investment portfolios, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and managing external advisors
About You
- Postgraduate qualification with extensive senior management experience in a complex environment with significant industry experience in corporate treasury and asset management
- Exceptional leadership and management skills, enabling you to provide authoritative technical and policy advice at senior levels
- Outstanding planning and organisational skills, with experience in establishing priorities, allocating resources, and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated managerial excellence and success in a matrix, or large and complex management structure.
- Extensive staff management experience with the ability to motivate and develop high-performance teams
- Exceptional commercial acumen and experience in developing and implementing strategic solutions to complex projects and problems
