Remuneration: $80,603 - $92,585 pa HEW Level 05 (plus 17% employer superannuation)

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about molecular microbiology, bacteriology, and genetics? Join the Lyras Laboratory as a Research Officer, where you’ll contribute to groundbreaking infection research in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

As a Research Officer, you will:

  • Conduct molecular microbiology, bacteriology, and genetics experiments
  • Coordinate animal trials, perform tissue culture and fluorescence microscopy
  • Assist in data analysis, literature reviews, and research documentation
  • Liaise with international collaborators and schedule research meetings
  • Develop procedures for toxin characterization and ensure a safe laboratory environment
  • Support lab operations, including research administration and compliance

About You

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in molecular microbiology, bacteriology, and genetics
  • Experience with bacterial cultivation, aseptic techniques, PCR, protein analysis, cloning, and immunofluorescence
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team
  • Willingness to work with animals (previous experience desirable)
