The Opportunity

Monash University is seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Quality Assurance Engineer to lead the Quality Assurance (QA) function for the Rostering, Time and Attendance Transformation Project. In this pivotal role, you will ensure that the transformation of these critical systems meets the highest standards of quality, performance, and user satisfaction. Working in collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will define and implement the QA strategy, ensuring the smooth delivery of a robust, scalable, and reliable solution.

To be successful the eligible candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, ensuring high standards of quality across complex systems.
  • Extensive and proven experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer, with a strong background in leading QA functions for large-scale projects, ideally within the higher education, enterprise, or government sectors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in QA methodologies, tools, and best practices, including experience in both manual and automated testing.
  • Strong understanding and use of software development life cycles (SDLC), including Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently demonstrating exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage and mentor a team of QA engineers.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business stakeholders.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, QTP, TestComplete) and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Quality Center).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and modern development environments.
  • Experience working with rostering, time, and attendance systems or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions is desirable. Knowledge of rostering, time and attendance software and systems would be an advantage.
