The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an Associate Professor to join the Entrepreneurship portfolio within Monash Business School. The primary purpose of the role is to lead the academic development and management of the undergraduate and graduate offerings, including operational oversight of core staff and the team of Special Sessional staff, who are instrumental in delivering a suite of units that are grounded in real-world, contemporary practice. This aligns with the University’s strategic goals and purpose through its Impact 2030 plan with respect to enabling staff to collaborate in entrepreneurial and innovative ways in offering students rich international and enterprising learning experiences through programs in start-ups and technology.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for a dynamic blend of teaching, curriculum development, and strategic collaboration. Responsibilities include delivering engaging lectures and seminars, designing innovative course materials, assessing student performance, and providing academic guidance. The role also involves leading interdisciplinary programs, shaping curriculum design and review, and fostering educational innovation at faculty and institutional levels. Additionally, the position requires mentoring and capacity-building among faculty members, working with external partners on teaching and learning advancements, and driving key strategic initiatives within the Entrepreneurship Portfolio. Strengthening industry connections, engaging with public policy bodies, and facilitating cross-campus collaborations are central to expanding the institution’s global impact and reputation.

To be appointable into this role you must have advance qualifications and/or recognised significant experience in the relevant discipline area or a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate academic excellence through outstanding contributions to teaching, research, and professional practice, with national recognition for achieving consistently high student outcomes. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, students and industry partners are essential. For this role, experience in leading, managing, mentoring, and developing staff is required, along with a commitment to fostering a culture of educational excellence. The role also demands expertise in curriculum development and innovation in delivery, as well as a passion for engaging in scholarly and research activities at a leadership level. Additionally, active participation in faculty and university committees and shaping strategic initiatives will be fundamental to the position.
