Join Our Team as an Older Persons Mental Health Clinical Nurse – Lead with Expertise and Compassion

Make a meaningful impact by delivering specialist mental health nursing services for older people, supporting consumers, carers, and families through high-quality, person-centred care. This role offers the opportunity to apply your advanced clinical experience while contributing to an integrated and responsive mental health service.

About the Role:

As an Older Persons Mental Health Clinical Nurse, you will apply your consolidated clinical experience and specialist knowledge to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive range of services tailored to the needs of older consumers. Working across a variety of health service settings, you will provide mental health nursing care as a practitioner developing from competent to proficient practice, while ensuring care is sensitive, effective, and evidence based.

You will accept accountability for your own practice standards, for activities you delegate to others, and for supporting the development of less experienced staff. While the role remains predominantly clinical, you will also be assigned appropriate portfolio responsibilities that align with your performance and professional development goals, negotiated as part of your career plan. In this position, you will play a key role in supporting high-quality mental health care for older people and strengthening service delivery across the network.

  • Must hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in Mental Health practice.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years full time equivalent, post registration mental health experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in Older Persons Mental Health nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
  • Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses / clinicians.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal consumers.
