Overview:

The South Australian State Health Coordination Centre (SHCC) will provide 24/7 real time visibility end to end of on patient flow across the system, using existing data and shared insights to identify issues and patterns and respond proactively to support optimal system flow or patient care.

The SHCC uses real-time information systems, monitoring patients awaiting ambulances, people waiting for the ED, people waiting in the ED to be admitted, people waiting to be discharged, inter-hospital transfers and regional patients in metro hospitals, and a newly build real time communications platform to coordinate responses and actions.

The SHCC’s role is to support improvements to ramping, flow and access to care enabling an improved patient journey.

The aim of this Nursing Director role is to provide strategic and operational leadership, coaching, governance and direction (in and after hours across 7 days) for the SHCC. The role reports to the RN 5.3, Advanced Nursing Director- SHCC Operations Lead. The role balances and integrates strategic and operational perspectives within a specified span of appointment.

The role:

  • Ensures the health system is working efficiently, using available capacity across the system to manage patients, resulting in improved patient flow and outcomes, and ambulance utilisation.
  • Has a holistic view of a patient’s end to end journey, being able to monitor and support a balanced system response to issues before they have an impact on patient care.
  • Leads complex system and process improvement across LHNs through coaching, mentoring and training, recognition and support.

  • A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Special Conditions

  • This position is required to work outside of normal business hours and require participation in after-hours shifts and may involve an on-call roster as the SHCC is a 24/7 service.
