Integrated Mental Health Inpatient Unit (Whyalla)
Whyalla Hospital is one of three SA regional hospitals that has an Integrated Mental Health Inpatient Unit (IMHIU). The IMHIU features six single bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a comfortably furnished dining and lounge area, making the environment as welcoming and home-like as possible. About the Role:
As the Manager of the Integrated Mental Health Team, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across inpatient, community, and intensive care services, ensuring continuity and high standards of consumer care. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage resources, and support the professional development of Nursing, Allied Health, OPS support, and Administrative staff. Working closely with the Clinical Lead Psychiatrist and hospital management, you will lead service planning, policy implementation, and the coordination of care across stepped models, including the Integrated Mental Health Inpatient Unit (IMHIU), Intensive Care Program (ICP), and community mental health services. This role also provides the opportunity to offer consultancy and strategic advice to other health services and NGOs, ensuring mental health services are responsive, consumer-focused, and aligned with best practice standards.

About You:
RN/M4
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Must hold a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent in mental health nursing.
- Registered Nurse and or Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience.
- Demonstrated competence in clinical mental health nursing practice within a mental health service and in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
- Demonstrated success in working within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience in management and leadership roles.
- Experience in the financial and asset management of a service.
- Experience in the human resource management.
- Experience working with Aboriginal consumers and communities to provide culturally appropriate health services.
AHP4
- Must hold a recognised qualification within the Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Psychology professions and fulfill all requirements to obtain and maintain current registration and/or LHN credentialing including eligibility for Professional Association membership.
- Evidence of higher qualifications is desirable.
- Contribute to the LHN’s strategic goals and corporate objectives.
- Provide expert professional advice and operational guidance across units, networks, or the LHN.
- Lead strategic management and service development initiatives, including committee participation.
- Apply professional principles, new technologies, and specialized knowledge across disciplines.
- Make independent decisions in expert practice areas and oversee team outcomes.
