About the role: 

Reporting to the Advanced Nursing Director, this role provides timely customer service and accurate data entry to support the unit’s daily operations. The Administrative Officer helps maintain clear and effective communication across the team to support coordinated and efficient SALHN Operations services.
 
The SALHN Operations Centre is a fast‑paced hub within Flinders Medical Centre, responsible for coordinating patient allocation and flow across the network. We are seeking an Administrative Officer to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary team.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Providing administrative support to the Advanced Nursing Director and project team, such as data entry, document preparation and formatting, and general assistance to help keep the department’s work on track,
  • Answering incoming telephone calls, evaluating them for urgency and using judgement, redirecting to the appropriate departmental member,
  • Responding to inquiries from all staff groups, patients, visitors, external professional groups and other institutions and agencies 
  • Ensuring prompt and accurate data entry of in-patients visits from the Statewide Interfacility Transfer (SIFT) system to Electronic Medical Record (EMR),
  • Assist nursing Bed Managers with EMR data entry including patient transfers,
  • Maintaining records of patients who are transferred to private contracted care providers,
  • Entering data into Safety Learning System (SLS) as required, such as in relation to transfer of care (TOC) delays and rapid ambulance offloads,
  • Providing courteous and personable customer service

About you:

  • Ability to work as a member of a team and individually,

  • High level of personal organisation skills and the ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines,
  • Interpersonal skills consistent with providing high quality customer service and the trust and cooperation of others,
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining appropriate records and filing systems,
  • Experience in the use of computers and software applications including word processing and electronic mail,
  • Experience in a customer service role,
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
