About the role

The SAMI consultant radiologist is responsible to the site’s Campus Clinical Head for delivering Medical Imaging services of the highest possible standard to SAMI patients both in terms of individual performance and by contributing to multi-disciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care, teaching, and research. The incumbent is required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical and academic team.

Specifically, this position is primarily responsible for assisting in the provision of general Medical Imaging services at Flinders Medical Centre. Responsibilities of the incumbent include:

• Provision of professional leadership to clinical staff and supervision of teaching of radiology trainees, other staff and medical students.
• Active support and participation in quality improvement and quality assurance activities to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient patient-centred care processes.
• Representing SAMI at campus meetings and liaising with clinicians regarding service provision (for example at hospital clinico-radiology / multidisciplinary team meetings and management team meetings). It is expected that the incumbent will likely take responsibility for a least one clinico-radiology / multidisciplinary meeting per week.
• A duty to support and encourage team cooperation amongst staff to optimise the level and diagnostic accuracy of the service provided.

At the request of the Campus Clinical Head, the incumbent may be required to deliver Medical Imaging services at a variety of SAMI locations.

About You

You are a qualified and experienced Medical Imaging specialist with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, patient-centred care, and continuous professional development.

• Specialist qualifications and clinical expertise – You hold an MBBS (or equivalent) with specialist registration (or eligibility) with the Medical Board of Australia, and have completed (or are nearing completion of) accredited Clinical Radiology training through RANZCR, with demonstrated competence across a broad range of imaging modalities and procedures.
• Strong communication and leadership capability – You communicate effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams, demonstrate respectful behaviours, and have proven ability to teach, supervise and act as a role model for junior staff and trainees.
• Commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement – You are dedicated to high standards of patient care, clinical governance, audit and research, and have a sound understanding of Work Health and Safety, risk management, and quality improvement principles.
• Professionalism, adaptability and teamwork – You bring excellent problem-solving, decision-making and time management skills, thrive in a team environment, respond positively to change, and manage conflict effectively while upholding ethical conduct and Equal Employment Opportunity principles.
