This position reports directly to the Dean and is situated within the School of Psychology and Public Health – specifically within the School’s portfolio of Student Experience and Employability. As the Mental Health Research and Development Project Officer, you will coordinate the delivery of a strategic and research-based project focused on identifying and addressing the barriers to men’s engagement and retention in psychology and mental health-related education. You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders, lead co-design processes, and contribute to strategic recommendations that inform future practices at La Trobe and beyond.This position is ideally suited for a professional with programmatic and research experience in gender equity in higher education and/or mental health education..
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and chair a project steering committee with representation from regional and metropolitan stakeholders.
- Engage in co-design processes to understand and address barriers to male participation in psychology-related courses.
- Lead research ethics application, data collection and analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
- Implement and evaluate strategies that promote enrolment and retention in collaboration with the School.
- Disseminate findings through internal reports, journal publications, and funding applications.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A PhD or equivalent experience related to psychology, mental health, or student engagement in higher education.
- Demonstrated project leadership skills and the ability to meet complex milestones across time-limited initiatives.
- Expertise in gender or equity in higher education, with a focus on male student participation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to lead collaborative initiatives and build strong networks.
- A proven track record in research dissemination and grant applications.
