Engineering Programme Manager
Location: Midlands or Southeast (flexible with regular travel required)

Calor is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Programme Manager to lead our national team of multi-disciplined engineers in delivering innovative, sustainable, and safe engineering solutions. Location Note: Ideally, you will be based in the Midlands or Southeast, as this role involves travel to our operational sites across the country.
About the Role
As the Engineering Programme Manager, you will:
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to a team of managers and project engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Develop and deliver a 10-year engineering strategy aligned with business priorities while ensuring successful completion of short-term objectives.
- Oversee an extensive portfolio of over 50 projects annually, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant delivery.
- Own and manage a £15m annual CapEx budget, ensuring value-driven and precise expenditure.
- Ensure all projects meet rigorous safety, compliance, and sustainability standards in line with Calor policies and UK legislation.
- Work closely with senior leadership, presenting forecasts, influencing strategic decisions, and enhancing cross-department collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the annual CapEx Projects Programme, ensuring alignment with business goals and future needs.
- Monitor and control the CapEx budget, optimising resources for maximum return on investment.
- Build and nurture a high-performing team of engineers, including managers, graduates, and apprentices, ensuring skills development and succession planning.
- Identify and mitigate risks through robust safety management and risk reduction strategies.
- Champion innovation and drive continuous improvement to maximise project delivery efficiency and sustainability.
- Provide technical expertise in engineering challenges and deliver sound solutions.
- Maintain compliance with UK legislation, industry standards, and company policies, ensuring projects are delivered with inherent and appropriate levels of process safety.
About You
You are an experienced, results-oriented leader with a proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects in high-risk environments. Your blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and motivational leadership will help you succeed in this critical role.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree/master’s in engineering (or equivalent).
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification. (Desirable)
- Experience delivering engineering projects preferably in hazardous materials environments. LPG or similar industries. (Desirable)
- Proficiency in programme/project management and budget control.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing diverse teams.
- Expertise in engineering safety management, quality assurance, and compliance.
- Knowledge of relevant UK/EU legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
- A Full UK Driving License is essential.
