Lead the Future of Resource Recovery in Victoria

Cleanaway is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Victorian State Lead – Organics & Resource Recovery to provide strategic and operational leadership across our growing Victorian resource recovery portfolio.

This is a highly visible senior leadership role at the intersection of sustainability, government engagement, organics processing, circular economy initiatives, and resource recovery operations. You will play a key role in shaping Victoria's organics future, building strong stakeholder partnerships, influencing industry direction, and driving operational excellence across our facilities.

As the senior state representative for the Organics and Resource Recovery business, you will work closely with government agencies, regulators, councils, industry bodies, customers, and internal teams to ensure Cleanaway remains a leader in delivering safe, sustainable and commercially successful resource recovery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a strong safety-first culture across all Victorian operations, setting clear expectations around safety, accountability, leadership and compliance.
  • Provide visible and authentic leadership that fosters a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on continuous improvement, integrity and shared success.
  • Lead Cleanaway's Victorian Organics & Resource Recovery business, balancing day-to-day operational performance with the delivery of long-term strategic objectives.
  • Establish and maintain high standards across safety, operational performance, reporting, environmental compliance and governance.
  • Support and develop site leadership teams to achieve operational, commercial and safety outcomes while creating an engaged and accountable workforce.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, councils, industry stakeholders and regulators, building trusted relationships that support sustainable resource recovery outcomes.
  • Drive the ongoing development of the organics and resource recovery strategy, identifying opportunities to grow end markets, improve processes and maximise value recovery.
  • Identify and deliver initiatives that improve business performance, increase efficiency and unlock commercial opportunities across a growing and evolving portfolio.
  • Represent Cleanaway across industry forums and stakeholder groups, contributing to discussions that help shape the future of resource recovery and sustainability in Victoria.
  • Work closely with internal and external partners to ensure facilities remain responsive to changing customer, market and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the safe and effective operation of facilities involving logistics, manufacturing processes, mobile plant and heavy equipment, ensuring consistent standards and best-practice outcomes across the network.

About You

We're seeking a proven senior leader who combines commercial acumen with strong relationship-building capabilities and a genuine passion for sustainability and resource recovery.

You are highly collaborative, operate with integrity, and excel at bringing diverse stakeholder groups together to achieve positive outcomes.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Significant leadership experience within resource recovery, waste management, manufacturing, logistics, industrial services, infrastructure, warehousing or related sectors.
  • Strong experience managing complex stakeholder environments involving government, regulators, customers and commercial partners.
  • Proven commercial capability, including contract negotiation, strategic partnerships and market development.
  • Experience leading operationally focused businesses in safety-critical environments.
  • Strong understanding of governance, compliance and operational performance management.
  • Ability to influence outcomes across multiple stakeholder groups without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated experience building culture, developing teams and leading organisational change.
  • Exposure to industrial operations involving heavy equipment, manufacturing processes, mobile plant or logistics environments.
