The Kenyon College Chemistry Department is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, post-baccalaureate position in the laboratory of Yutan Getzler. This position is funded through a Research at Undergraduate Institutions (RUI) grant from the NSF to study controlled polymer degradation. The immediate goal of our program is synthesis and characterization of linear and cyclic polyesters via ring-opening polymerization of commercially available and novel lactones using coordination compounds. Several variants of the novel lactones are in hand on multi-gram scales and their syntheses are well developed. Initial conditions for polymerization of commercially available monomers are established. This position designed for those intending to pursue graduate studies in synthetic chemistry. |

Kenyon College invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor in Science and Nature Writing with an appointment in the Department of English starting July 2025. We seek candidates who can contribute to the college’s vibrant Science and Nature Writing initiative that encourages artful, creative, and accurate writing about the natural world. Teaching expectations are five courses per academic year, including courses in the English department and possibly in other departments that contribute to Science and Nature Writing, such as Environmental Studies, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
