Job description:

The Clinical Lead is a senior allied health professional who plays a pivotal role in shaping clinical excellence and service delivery across Tasmania’s public health system.

The Department of Health is seeking suitably qualified applicants for an Allied Health Professional (504801) vacancy.

Please note this position is also being advertised as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (504801d) and only one position will be filled on merit.

The Team:

The Burnie Adult Community Mental Health Service (BACMHS NW) is a case management service that provides expert mental health care including assertive case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention within the community setting.

The Role:

The Clinical Lead is a senior allied health professional who plays a pivotal role in shaping clinical excellence and service delivery across Tasmania’s public health system. Operating as part of the Allied Health Service Leadership Team, the Clinical Lead provides strategic direction, mentorship, and support to clinical staff, with a strong focus on education, innovation, and quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support clinical education and professional development initiatives.
  • Drive evidence-based practice and continuous improvement in patient care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service integration and outcomes.
  • Contribute to workforce planning and capability building in line with the Health Workforce 2040 strategy 

Impact:

This role is essential in ensuring that Tasmania’s health services remain responsive, sustainable, and aligned with best practices—particularly in the face of growing demand and evolving healthcare needs .

This role is to provide expert level allied health specialist clinical advice enabling the delivery of high-quality patient care for patients with complex care requirements.

Develop and promote effective partnerships within the Agency and with external community service providers for liaison, education, and support for complex and high-risk patients.

Provide authoritative specialist clinical advice on the development of policies and the delivery of services across the continuum of care.

You will need:

Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution, and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association

Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: 

$123,717 to $134,336 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances: 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
