
The Team:
Legal Services is a small professional team working to support operational, corporate, and executive areas across the Department of Health. Legal Services provides advice and support to safeguard the agency’s interests, ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and governance frameworks, achieve the Department’s strategic objectives, and ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians.
Under the strategic direction of the General Manager, three Executive Managers lead the operational work of the team in three broad streams. All team members are supported to build upon existing skills and to work across the three areas:
- Medico-legal and litigation management;
- Contracts/transactional; and
- Legislation and governance.
The Role:
The Legal Adviser operates within the context of the Legal Services team to provide essential support services to the Department of Health and its portfolio Ministers through the delivery of expert legal, regulatory, and governance advice. The Legal Adviser will handle legal issues across medico-legal, contracts and transactional, and legislative and governance areas, and assist the General Manager in managing the Department's legal interests, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic objectives.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, Hobart based day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight with flexible work arrangements available by agreement.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $98,255 to $103,069 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
