Job description:
The Governance & Compliance Officer is responsible for providing oversight, coordination, and advice for a range of organisational governance, compliance, and policy requirements.
The Governance & Compliance Officer is responsible for providing oversight, coordination, and advice for a range of corporate governance, compliance, and policy requirements.
The role supports the management, coordination and communication of the CEO office and board, its connection both internally and externally and transparent management accountability and high standards of corporate governance, planning, risk assessment and mitigation.
The position also provides professional and proactive executive and secretariat support to the PAHSMA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board, and as required, the Senior Leadership Team.

Duties
- Provide comprehensive executive and secretariat services to the CEO and Board of PAHSMA.
- Support the implementation of governance best practices and maintain compliance controls and advise on policy requirements.
- Coordinate and ensure delivery of key corporate processes including board reporting, maintenance of risk registers, and keeping abreast of senior executive recruitment, reviews, and reappointments.
- Coordinate, prepare and distribute Question Time Briefs, Ministerial documents and briefings including managing government communications and relationships.
- Support Head of Agency compliance to whole-of-government processes and requirements.
- Manage and collect information to support the creation of the PAHSMA Annual Report including ownership for the delivery, quality, and compliance of content.
- Develop, manage, and coordinate organisational workflow systems to ensure compliance with intergovernmental responsibilities at an executive and ministerial level.
- Undertake research and analysis to develop, reports and provide high level authoritative advice to support policy development, team decision making, and to inform and reflect government and organisation direction.
- Participate in and contribute toward planning and problem-solving activities for PAHSMA operational matters in line with the strategic plan and broader goals of the organisation.
- Responsible for the creation, coordination and maintenance of the organisation’s Delegations Policy and associated Matrix.
- Research, coordinate and implement a Board Self Evaluation program for reporting to the Minister, including the provision of reports to the PAHSMA Board for consideration and appropriate action.
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external and represent the organisation at a range of forums.
- Lead and implement projects and initiatives, incorporating strategies, timeframes, risk assessments, and progress reporting against deliverables.
- Provide specific secretariat support to the Board in accordance with the Board Charter, including advising on governance processes, monitoring Board and Committee policies and procedures, providing a point of reference for dealings between the Board and CEO, retaining independent professional advisors at the request of the Board and maintaining the annual meeting calendar.
- Maintain a high level of awareness of matters concerning the CEO’s office to effectively respond to enquiries.
- Maintain an organised approach to all work undertaken with appropriate processes in place to monitor and follow up outstanding issues within appropriate and/or specified timeframes.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and reconcile expenses for the CEO as required.
- Coordinate functions and events initiated by the CEO or Board and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Undertake other allocated duties, not specifically mentioned, that are within the capacity, experience and workload expectations normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications: eg Business Management.
