Job description:
As a member of the ICT & Spatial Services Branch leadership and management team, you will initiate, manage and co-ordinate the delivery of safe cybersecurity services to the department. The role will provide strategic leadership, advice and direction on the development of cybersecurity strategies, safe practices and response to unauthorised access and data breaches involving the department. The occupant will supervise and manage a small high-performing cyber-security team.
The role will also provide high-level consultancy services to senior management on cybersecurity, including whole of government ICT initiatives.

Duties
• Review, refine, update existing cybersecurity strategies that align with the Tasmanian Government Security Direction for the deployment of security processes and technologies.
• Implement all cybersecurity policies including the Cyber Security Action Plan, Incident Response Plan and Data Breach Incident Response Plan to ensure the appropriate levels of security controls are implemented to protect the State Growth critical systems, facilities, applications and data.
• Lead and manage the work of a small high-performing team and actively promote a positive work culture of collaboration, teamwork, respect and continuous improvement. Includes managing quality control and outputs as well as performance management and conflict resolution.
• Lead and manage the cyber security team, coordinate cyber security activities including risk assessments involving service specific requests, develop reports on identified threats. Lead the monitoring of security vulnerabilities and cyber threats in infrastructure, endpoints, host systems and applications.
• Track latest security developments and analyse potential department benefits of these advancements, including developing business cases for funding applications.
• Develop stakeholder communications regarding security awareness, threats and individuals’ responsibilities.
• Lead investigations and co-ordination of threat responses or attempted breaches including overseeing the response to security audits, reported breaches and threats.
• Liaise with State, and where necessary national organisations, to obtain information on current and potential threats, hazards, defence mechanisms and risk mitigation activities.
• The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.
Desirable Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in information technology, or a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 5-year recent working experience in ICT and / or Security field
