Performs complex and specialized tasks and/or services requiring advanced skills in one or more library specializations. Serves as an outward facing extension of the Dean of Libraries. Primary responsibilities include high-level event planning, serving as a liaison with campus units, and providing the strategic direction for broad level engagement with the MSU community.

Department Profile:

The Mississippi State University Library system is comprised of six libraries that include the Mitchell Memorial Library, Bob and Kathy Luke Architecture, Art and Design Library, College of Veterinary Medicine Library, Phil Hardin Foundation Libraries on the Meridian Campus, and Gertrude C. Ford Foundation Library in Jackson, MS. The Mitchell Memorial Library houses the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library and the Frank and Virginia Williams Collection of Lincolniana. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Oversees, coordinates, and/or performs integrated activities in support of the development, implementation, and marketing of engagement activities.
2. Plans, organizes, and executes library events, workshops, and programs for a variety of constituent groups alongside the Dean of the Library.
3. Serves as liaison between students, faculty, staff, other departments, and/or external constituencies on day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative functions or issues.
4. Promotes the library's meeting and special event spaces to the campus community to drive room reservations.
5. Manages the library's room reservation system, ensuring efficient scheduling and usage of library spaces.
6. Oversees the maintenance of records of engagement activities, including attendance, feedback, and outcomes and makes recommendations for programmatic improvements.
7. Sources, orders, and manages the inventory of promotional materials to align with library engagement strategies.
8. Oversees and manages the budget for promotional materials, ensuring all purchases are made within the established financial limits.
9. Coordinates with the Marketing and Communication Director to develop and plan content for social media, newsletters, and the library website, ensuring effective promotion of library events, services, and resources.
10. Collaborates with OPA to maintain consistent, on-brand messaging for MSU Libraries across all communication channels.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field.
One year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgements.
- Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
- Clerical, word processing, and/or office skills.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Records maintenance and project management skills.
- Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
- Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
- Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
2. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
3. No or very limited physical effort required.
