Position Function:
The Animal Care Assistant will monitor care and maintenance of aquatic and terrestrial animal systems for the Conservation Physiology Lab. Cleaning and feeding anurans and caudata in collection. Maintaining aquarium set up. Assisting in breeding and research activities. Care and maintenance of aquatic and terrestrial animal systems for the Conservation Physiology Lab.

Department Profile:
The Department of Biochemistry, Nutrition, and Health Promotion has academic, research and extension education missions within the traditions of land-grant universities. The department has roughly 35 faculty in the Biochemistry, Nutrition/Dietetic, Food Science and Health Promotion disciplines. The Department offers B.S. and Ph.D. degrees and currently advises approximately 400 undergraduate and 30 graduate students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleaning and feeding anurans and caudata in collection. Maintaining aquarium set up. Assisting in breeding and research activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school or GED.
Experience: 1 year experience handling amphibians.
Preferred Qualifications:
BS degree in Wildlife and Fisheries
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Handling and feeding of amphibians, maintaining insect and worm food sources.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Animal holding facilities require standing on short ladders, in wet slippery environment. Must be able to drive to obtain and care for feeder fish, insects or materials for holding cages. Must be able to work weekends and holidays as requested.
