  • Permanent full-time opportunity (38 hours/week)
  • Based at Royal Botanic Garden Sydney
  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $81,390 to $90,001 + super



The role
In this role, you’ll lead a small team to keep our gardens looking their best. You’ll be hands-on with plant care, help plan the work, and make sure everything runs smoothly – from daily maintenance to fixing up areas after events. You’ll also help update plant records, work closely with events staff, and share your knowledge to guide garden development.

It’s a great opportunity to use your skills and experience to lead others, solve problems on the ground, and make a real difference to the gardens. If you’re passionate about plants, enjoy working outdoors, and like helping others grow their skills, we’d love to hear from you.

What you will bring to the role

  • Hold a current Australian Driver Licence
  • Ability to undertake fieldwork for extended periods (outside of normal working hours and on weekends if required) and have the ability to lift and carry a minimum 15 kilos.
  • Proven team leadership experience with the ability to develop and manage a diverse team
  • Extensive experience in project management
  • Proficiency in maintenance of large-scale gardens
  • Strong self-management skills, effective communication, ability to work collaboratively
  • A passion for horticulture and commitment to improving and enhancing heritage plant collections



Essential requirements:

  • Horticultural trades certificate or equivalent experience and technical knowledge in horticulture and maintenance techniques
