• Generous remuneration package. Salary from $87,199 to $95,482 plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

Every day, you'll contribute to work that helps communities, councils, government agencies and landowners make informed decisions across NSW. You'll work alongside experienced professionals undertaking land valuations, assessing objections, providing independent compensation assessments for compulsorily acquired land and delivering valuation advice across government.

What you will do

As a Graduate Valuer, you'll build the skills, experience and confidence needed to become a qualified valuer while learning from experienced professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment

Through the structured 24-month program, you will gain practical experience through up to six work rotations across key areas of VNSW, including:

• Rating and taxing valuations
• Objections
• Compulsory acquisitions
• Specialist valuations.

About you

We're looking for eight (8) graduates who are keen to learn, ready to challenge themselves and excited about building a career in valuation. You don't need to know everything on day one. We'll support you through a structured development program designed to help you learn, grow and build confidence in your role. What matters most is your curiosity, willingness to learn and desire to make a positive impact for communities across NSW.

You will bring:

• A genuine interest in property, valuation and making a difference for people and communities.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A willingness to learn, seek feedback and continually improve
• The ability to stay organised, manage competing priorities and produce high-quality work.
• Sound judgement and problem-solving skills

• An understanding of, or willingness to learn relevant legislation, policy frameworks and how they apply to your role.

Essential requirements

• Current Student Membership or Provisional Membership of the Australian Property Institute
• Completion of, or expected completion by the end of 2026, qualifications that meet the eligibility requirements to apply for Associate Membership with the Australian Property Institute (API)
• A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel.

About us 

Value NSW (VNSW), part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, delivers the valuation system for rating and taxing as well as compulsory acquisition compensation purposes via delegation of the Valuer General of NSW. This includes but is not limited to: 

• Making more than 2.7 million residential, rural, commercial and industrial valuations annually, with a total value of approximately $3 trillion as well as managing compulsory acquisition determinations in situations where government cannot reach agreement, totalling over $1 billion per annum 
• Delivering customer services and experience for 2.7 million landholders per annum – receiving up to 50,000 calls and many more enquiries 
• Monitoring, assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991. 

In addition, VNSW provides other specialised valuation activities, services and determinations for other cluster or statewide government partners – including being responsible for the delivery of all valuations for government property transactions as defined by the Government Property Framework and Treasurer’s Directions as well as sector wide asset valuations of up to around $700 billion for financial reporting purposes.
