Position Number: S75210

This position is a Grade: 8 - 37.5 with an approximate salary range of $43,940 - $52,740 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process archival collections, including developing a project plan for accomplishing the work in the allotted time and estimates of resources needed.
• Prepare EAD encoded finding aids according to established local practice using ArchivesSpace.
• Create or update MARC catalog records in accordance with archival and library standards for entry into national and local databases.
• Maintain storage areas by participating in shifting and other stacks maintenance projects.
• Assist in the preservation assessment of collections and identify potential candidates for preservation, conservation treatment and digitization.
• Provide orientation, direction, and assistance, including some reference help, to a wide variety of researchers.
• Assist researchers with registration and proper handling of rare and distinctive materials.
• Interpret and enforce Libraries Special Collections policies and regulations as they apply to the reading and instruction room.
• Track circulation of printed and archival materials in the reading and instruction room and compile usage statistics.
• Locate, charge, deliver, and reshelve materials from closed book stacks.
• Assist readers and staff with questions regarding requests and orders for digital images and reproductions.
• May work with student Assistants.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• One to three years of related work experience
• Strong background in the humanities (art history, history, or literature)
• Previous library work experience, preferably in a special collections library reading room
• Must possess excellent judgment and awareness of security protocols and procedures
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse library users and staff in person, by telephone, and by email
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to sustain close attention to detail
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications, especially Word, Excel, and Access and Google Suite
• Commitment to providing high quality service, working effectively with others in a team environment, and be responsive to changing needs and priorities
• Ability to lift heavy books and boxes (40 lbs.), extensive walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, climbing up stairs, and pushing heavy carts with books or boxes
