Job Summary

$4800 for the 6-week summer program

The position of Resident Advisor in the Summer Bridge Program will be responsible for the following:

  • Living in the residence halls (On-call 24 hours per day).
  • Monitor residential hall activities and assist with student development programs.
  • Attending daily mandatory staff meetings and participating in staff development activities.
  • Planning and assisting in activities for student development.
  • Facilitate student integration and acclimation into their University and Summer Bridge experiences
  • Directly facilitate an environment of personal growth, leadership development, and academic success of a group of 10-15 Summer Bridge students
  • Refer students to appropriate university and/or community resources.
  • Provide informal individual and group meetings to resolve roommate or community conflicts
  • Promote the development of a multicultural community through assisting students in establishing a genuine respect for, and appreciation of personal differences
  • Create a one-on-one connection and make a commitment to serve as a role model and peer advisor.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

• Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester or who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated) or who is registered for the subsequent semester,
• In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation or academic dismissal).
• Demonstrate ability to interact successfully with students of diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good organizational and managerial skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise good judgement.
• Desire to work with college students, faculty, and staff from varied backgrounds.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Junior standing or above and demonstrated maturity with an overall GPA of 2.75 or above.
• Knowledge of student support services and resources on campus.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act Notification:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
