Salary

Classification Range $16.50 - $24.00 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $17 per hour.

Work Schedule

Must be able to work from the hours of 7:00 AM - 10 PM, including weekends. The schedule will be adaptable to the student's school schedule.

Must be available to work between 3 to 4 hours shift.

Job Summary

The Event Assistant provides essential support for the planning and execution of campus parking and transportation services for university events. Working under the supervision of the Event Services Analyst, Event Assistants help with logistical operations including signage setup, equipment handling, and event documentation. This is a student role ideal for individuals seeking experience in event coordination, customer service, and campus operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the setup, placement, and removal of directional signage and parking equipment for campus events.
  • Support the organization and inventory of parking event signage and related equipment.
  • Clean parking equipment using available wash stations.
  • Help update and maintain event-related documentation in tools such as SmartSheet and Microsoft Teams as directed.
  • Provide general event support, including assisting with one-site directions, customer inquiries, and reporting any logistical issues to the Event Services Analyst.
  • Follow detailed instructions to ensure smooth traffic control and parking support operations during events.
  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and readiness of event equipment storage areas.
  • Uphold professionalism while interacting with campus guests, staff, and other departments.
  • Attend regular check-ins or training sessions to stay updated on event procedures and safety protocols.
  • Maintain an understanding of current CSUF Parking Enforcement rules and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid California driver's license (Class C minimum)
  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to observe situations and determine an appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to act in an appropriate manner with sensitive and confidential information/situations.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to push, pull or lift traffic equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to work in dusty conditions.

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act Notification:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
