Job Summary

Under general supervision, provides operational support, analysis and guidance for Staff HR ADA, leaves, and employee relations programs. The incumbent will also provide critical guidance to campus administrators on employee relations matters as well as program support for employees’ relations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Counsel, process and track workplace accommodations under ADA/FEHA for staff and MPP employees - Consult with employees regarding workplace accommodation options under FEHA and ADA, including their role and responsibilities.
  • Counsel, process, and track paid and unpaid leaves of absence for staff and MPP employees - Provides ASMs and employees with information on leave-related laws, contract and policy interpretation, and typical procedures regarding various types of leave of absence. This includes information on parental leave, FMLA, NDI, CAT leave donations, intermittent leaves, and personal leave of absence.
  • Employee Relations program support - Provides advice/guidance regarding the terms and provisions of the University's collective bargaining agreements and/or University procedures and policies dealing with staff-related matters.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

In depth knowledge of ADA, FEHA and other accommodation related laws and policies. In depth knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, and other leave-related laws and policies. Demonstrated ability to handle and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Demonstrated skills and experience working independently, communication effectively, and writing clear and concise reports required. Excellent written and verbal skills required. Demonstrated research, investigation and analytical skills required, as well as ability to find solutions to problems required. Ability to exercise good judgment when responding to others, pursuant to the establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships. Excellent organizational skills: ability to manage multiple priorities and to be accountable for own work results for effective and timely completion of work assignments.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field plus three years of related experience required.

Physical Summary

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5,000 - $5,625 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,464 - $10,689 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment
