Are you passionate about empowering students and helping them navigate the path to career success? The University of Dayton is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Senior Student Employment Specialist to join Career Services department!
This position will provide administrative support to the Student Employment functions within Career Services at the University of Dayton. Responsibilities include supporting the needs of students applying for campus employment and assisting campus departments with the student hiring process. This position coordinates electronic files and the entry of information into Handshake, Banner and Xtender with a high level of confidentiality. Oversees I 9 process and employment eligibility verification's for student employees and ensures compliance with Federal laws.
High school diploma or GED with minimum of three years of experience within Career Services, Student Employment or Human Resources. Minimum of three years of experience providing administrative support in an office environment. Strong written communication skills. Two years demonstrated successful customer service experience, not in a call center environment. Exceptional organization skills demonstrated through successful experience in records management, timekeeping or process management with great attention to detail. Experience and skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work independently and to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently. Ability to oversee and direct the work of others, especially students in a university environment.
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
Associates Degree or equivalent three years combination of education and experience in an office environment with administrative tasks such as data entry and processing of paperwork. Experience working with a highly detail oriented, heavily regulated set of interrelated processes and records with a commitment to accuracy. Excellent verbal communication skills. Experience in exercising human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the university community and exercising tact in dealing with challenging individuals. Experience and interest in working with employers and college students, particularly undergraduates. Experience working with web based communication and collaboration tools. Appreciation for, and experience with, working strategically in a collaborative, team oriented environment while also having the ability to take initiative and work independently. Two years experience with career services software (i.e. Handshake) or Banner. Experience processing I 9 and/or E verify and possess comprehensive knowledge of Federal regulations surrounding these. Experience working with diverse populations including international students. Experience with all aspects of successful event planning.
