Position Summary: |
The Manager of the Simulation Lab plays a key role in supporting dental education by ensuring that preclinical simulation facilities meet the highest standards of safety, functionality, and instructional value. Per CODA Standard 2-1, the manager will maintain a clean, well-equipped, modern facility supporting curriculum delivery and student skill development. This position oversees the lab's day-to-day operations, ensures compliance with OSHA safety regulations, manages inventory, and supports faculty and students during simulation activities. The role includes technical training, data collection for performance tracking, and strategic planning for equipment upgrades and instructional technologies.

Position Responsibilities: |
Lab Operations & Oversight
- Oversee Daily Operations: Maintain a clean, organized, functional simulation lab environment that aligns with CODA Standard 2-1 and supports high-quality instruction.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the dental simulation lab, including setup, breakdown, and general organization.
- Coordinate the scheduling and use of the lab for all courses, special sessions, open labs, and events.
- Ensure equipment and supplies are available, functional, and compliant with safety standards.
Instructional & Faculty Support
- Collaborate with faculty to support the integration of simulation into preclinical curriculum.
- Assist in the setup and technical support for instructional sessions, including simulation exercises and practical exams.
Equipment & Technology Management
- Maintain inventory of simulation equipment (e.g., dental mannequins, handpieces, digital systems).
- Oversee maintenance, calibration, and repairs of all lab equipment and coordinate with vendors as needed.
- Recommend new technology or equipment upgrades based on educational trends and needs.
Student Support
- Provide orientation and training for students on simulation lab protocols and equipment usage.
- Monitor open lab hours and ensure appropriate supervision and resource availability.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols in the lab.
- Maintain documentation for lab policies and procedures in alignment with institutional and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with facilities and environmental health and safety offices for inspections and compliance updates.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies; oversee procurement and equipment maintenance.
- Manage lab budget, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
- Train and supervise lab assistants, technicians, or student workers as assigned.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab functions.

Experience & Education Background: |
- Bachelor’s degree required, degree in dental hygiene, healthcare simulation, education, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical, dental, or simulation environment; supervisory or academic lab experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with dental simulation equipment and software.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with simulation software, electronic scheduling systems, inventory systems, audiovisual, and IT troubleshooting.
- Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a dental education environment.
- Certification in healthcare simulation (e.g., CHSE) or dental assisting/hygiene.
- Knowledge of CODA standards related to preclinical education.

$85,000 - 90,000 |
