Salary range $135,459 – $157,027 plus super

Who are you?
You have a relevant qualification in a quantitative discipline (i.e. finance, mathematics) with experience in a similar role in electricity and/or environmental markets. Your experience also includes:
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound understanding of the Australian energy market
- Coding/data visualisation skills in Python, R or similar is highly desirable

About the role:
To put it simply, as an Energy Trader, your primary responsibility is to conduct day-to-day operations relating to energy contract trading to manage Hydro Tasmania’s risk exposure to electricity, environmental products and other commodities as required. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the spot market trading and portfolio optimisation teams to inform and transact within the contract strategy.
As an Energy Trader at Hydro Tasmania, you will…
✓ Identify market opportunities, considering the cost/risk and benefit
✓ Evaluate market analysis and intelligence as required to inform decision making regarding trading activity
✓ Closely monitor trading positions, risk limits and prepare reporting as required
✓ Completion of timely, ad-hoc market analysis as required
✓ Positively and actively collaborate across the Contract Trading team as well as the broader Commercial team to achieve shared goals
