About the role

The Estimator prepare tenders, that reflect the current construction methodology, are accurate in their composition and competitive in the market place, in order to secure profitable work for the construction divisions. You will be responsible for;

  • Participate in the selection of projects to be tendered.
  • Review tender documents for scope of works, contract requirements, form of tender and alternative design options.
  • Oversee and assist in acquiring subcontractor quotations.
  • Visit the site and discuss the proposed methods of work with Construction Managers and others.
  •  Oversee and assist in the preparation, checking or measuring of schedules or bills of quantities.
  • Build an estimate of direct costs and site overhead costs for each tender.
  • Prepare a programme of works if required.
  • Assess the risks and opportunities in the construction of the project.
  • Participate in the tender review and prepare final submission.

Estimating projects in;

  • Land development - Residential and Industrial Sub-divisions
  • Water / Sewer / Recycled Water upgrades
  • Road infrastructure and stormwater drainage for local councils and VicRoads.

To succeed in this role, you will need

  • 5+ years’ experience in the Civil Construction industry
  • A mix of project and estimating experience is ideal
  • First principle estimating experience
  • Development of subcontractor work packages and review
  • General knowledge of the local market conditions to ensure maximum returns are achieved
  • Exposure to Expert Estimation or CATS is desirable
