About the role:
Provide strong leadership to support the School’s strategic objectives, human resource planning and recruitment, physical assets, course development and accreditation and the implementation of University policies and Faculty guidelines within the School. Lead the operational management of the school and administrative support for academic governance, research, finance, infrastructure projects, course marketing, staff management, occupational health and safety and alumni engagement.
As the School Manager, you will:
- Lead with values, ethics and emotional intelligence to grow team resilience, inclusion and performance and set clear standards of expected behaviour
- Support and guide others in managing workplace stress, role model optimism in times of change and strive for balance in behaviour in terms of inclusivity, sustainability and excellence
- Actively analyse school activities to ensure sustainability. This includes reviewing academic workload allocations in line with overall financial management of the school, staff management plan, space, course innovation and unit rationalisation.
- Analyse problems, weigh up a range of options to identify accessible and inclusive solutions and translate complex issues into clear and understandable goals and targets for Deakin
- Lead the coordination, support and advice in relation to school administrative and operational matters to ensure the organisation of the school’s functions and resources
- Conceptualise local plans in alignment with university strategies and monitor progress and risks, adapt personal and team priorities and plans as required
- Ensure university governance, including the development of work instructions, procedures and guidelines to enable and support the delivery of operations
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and management expertise; or
- An equivalent combination of extensive relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience in administration and related activities in a large organisation with complex administrative structures, policies and procedures
