About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the leadership and operations of one of Deakin's fastest growing and most dynamic Schools.
As the Senior Officer, School Executive Support, you will provide high-level administrative and operational support to the School leadership team, helping to coordinate key activities, manage complex priorities and support the successful delivery of School initiatives.
Working closely with academic and professional staff across the School, you will contribute to effective governance, project coordination, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement activities. Your ability to exercise sound judgement, manage competing demands and build strong working relationships will be critical to your success.
In this role, you will:
- Provide high-level executive and operational support to the School leadership team.
- Analyse information, identify key issues and provide advice to support informed decision-making.
- Coordinate activities, projects and initiatives to ensure successful outcomes.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the University.
- Manage competing priorities and resolve issues using sound judgement and initiative.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and services.
- Contribute to effective governance, compliance and risk management practices.
- Share knowledge and support colleagues to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
About you
We're looking for a highly organised and proactive professional who shares our drive for excellence and our love for a great team culture.
You are the master of order in a world of complex schedules. You genuinely believe that a perfectly colour-coded calendar and a pristine inbox are forms of high art. You anticipate needs before they arise, and you thrive on keeping things running like clockwork.
But you’re not just about the spreadsheets and schedules. You bring energy to the workplace and want to be part of a tight-knit, supportive team where everyone pulls together to achieve great things.
You find joy in the details: A messy diary or a cluttered inbox is something you just can’t wait to fix.
You maintain a calm presence: You can handle the fast-paced nature of a university environment with professionalism, discretion, and a sense of humour.
You celebrate the wins: You work hard, but you’re always ready to pause and celebrate the team’s successes.
You will bring:
- A degree with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience providing professional advice and delivering outcomes in a complex organisational environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience building productive working relationships across teams and functions.
- An understanding of governance, policy and administrative processes.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
If you're looking for a varied and rewarding role where you can contribute to the success of the School and work closely with senior leaders, we'd love to hear from you.
